Padre Antonio Soler (1729--1783) was a Spanish Catholic monk whose compositions span the late-Baroque and early-Classical periods. A student of Domenico Scarlatti, he wrote over 150 keyboard sonatas. The "Sonata in D Major" is in an improvisatory style typical of Spanish dance.
