PERCUSSION
STACEY BOSTWICK:
Stacey received a B.M. in Applied Percussion from Drake University and a MM in Applied Percussion from the University of Illinois. She has taught percussion in private and master class situations since 1997. Stacey currently performs with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra and the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. Stacey is also teaching beginning and advanced music theory.
CHANDLER BOWERMAN:
Chandler is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in music at Simpson College. He transferred to Simpson in the spring of 2003 from Northern Illinois University. Mr. Bowerman has toured in the U.S., Taiwan, and Trinidad as part of NIU's world-renowned Steel Band as well as extended tours of the U.S. with the NIU Jazz Ensemble. He teaches percussion in the Des Moines area and performs around the Midwest with several groups.
CHARLIE EVANS:
Charlie graduated from the Berkley College of Music in 1977 with a percussion performance degree and a minor in audio engineering. He has over 20 years experience teaching privately. Charlie formed the band Flipside in 1980 and has worked as a studio drummer for radio and television spots. Charlie is good with students of all levels and can teach all styles of drumming.
PAUL THOMPSON:
Paul is a freelance drummer who has worked with numerous artists locally and nationally. Paul graduated from M.I.T. in 1991 where he studied with the world's top studio and live drummers. In 1994 he went for work for The Artist Formerly Known as Prince for two years at his Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota. Currently Paul is working with his band, Tyler Thompson, who has just released their second CD. Paul is also a freelance writer and his articles can be seen in Modern Drummer magazine.
DUANE WEIKEL:
Duane received a Bachelor of Music degree from Drake University. He has been a recording artist, performer and teacher on the West Coast and in Des Moines since 1976. Duane currently plays in the TAZBAND and the Livingstones. He teaches snare drum and jazz, rock, funk R&B, and blues on drum set.
MICHAEL PFAFF:
Mike holds a Master's Degree in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and a Bachelor's Degree in Performance and Conducting from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music. He has studied jazz with pianist Danilo Perez, drummer Bob Moses, Jazz theorist and saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi and conductor Bridget - Michael Reischl. Mike was featured at the 2007 Panama International Jazz Festival and recently finished a two month residency in Melbourne, Australia with jazz singer Sophie Brous. Mike won the 2007 Ludwig International Percussive Arts Society International Convention Scholarship Competition and the 2002 Harrison Symposium Wind Ensemble Conducting Competition. Mike currently plays with his band Dirty Little Rabbits. Mike will be teaching piano, percussion, drum set, Afro-Cuban and North Indian drumming and jazz improvisation. |
